49) Troodos Mountains

Saturday was another full day. After breakfast we set off for the Troodos Mountains, (calling at a winery for a taste and a couple of bottles to bring home), what fabulous views were waiting for us as we travelled through the mountain range towards Cedar Valley, the smell of cedar was amaizing, I don't think I have ever seen so many trees, it was the same as thinking "how many hairs are there on my head"? (and I don't mean during chemo).
Further into our drive we found a dam that was completed in 2005, we managed to get through a hole in a wire fence to walk along the dam wall, it was fantastic to see the amount of water it was holding back.
We have driven about 470km in the first 3 days, so glad that there isn't a maximum mileage allowance. A couple of local days are on the agenda for today and tomorrow, but all that could change.

  3. You're probably missing the cold, damp weather by now...but don't worry, we're still getting it!
Holiday sounds truly great...a real appetite whetter for those of us who have never been to the island. I hope you're sharing the driving though!
Good news: church lovely and warm today despite the early morning frost.
Bad news: now we have two broken arms on church chairs.
Enjoy the rest of your stay & keep safe!

the chairs are a problem, will send you an email.
As for sharing the driving we share about 50/50, for example we went to wine taste, I drove there and Averil drove back (I'm not daft)

Look at all those trees, it looks so peaceful!

And a hole in a wire fence eh, always good to take advantage of the trouble other people have caused haha!

  8. Tom, the drive through the trees and mountans was great and took about 5 hours. The hole was just too tempting.
